THE SOUTH DOWNS COLLECTION
These new paintings are the result of two days drawing and painting, on location, high up on the south downs in Brighton. I left with countless sketches and paintings on paper which informed the making of these paintings back in the studio.

THE CLIMB
The landscape was vast and dramatic. The sky seeped into the land and the earth reached up to the sky. The horizon was muddled, wild and contained one hundred shades of green.

FLYING HIGH
On day two, the morning mist was heavy but as the sky began to lift, light broke through, the grey damp air was lifted away and colour returned. 170 x 130cm unframed £3,400. Can be framed to your requirements. Original painting acrylic and oil on canvas, protected with uv varnish.

BREATHE AGAIN
I watched the fading light turn clouds white, pink and orange. That afternoon, on the hills, I’d stayed out long enough to finally stop thinking and breathe again.

SEA SKY LAND
The South Downs is where sky, sea and land seem to dance together. As the weather and light changes so does your perspective. On minuet the sky is flooding in, then the hills step into focus, but out of the blue that sparkling sea is calling you.

I watched the walkers follow the paths up and down the land. Slowly they turned from men, to boys, to specs upon the hill.

MIST FOR THE TREES
The mist one morning allowed the sky to swirl and dance. It swallowed hills, sea and everything on the ground. With what was left the colours popped like gems within the land.
